The Secretary of State has announced that his office will be mailing absentee ballot request forms to each registered voter in Iowa for this November's General Election. Voters who wish to use this option are encouraged to fill out the form and return it to the Winneshiek County Auditor's Office at 201 W Main St, Decorah. The request form can be returned in person, through the mail, or placed in the drop box in the Courthouse parking lot.
Voters are required to enter their Drivers License number, or PIN number if they don't have a Drivers License, on the form. The Auditor's Office will not send out a ballot unless the form is complete.
Voters should receive the request form from the Secretary of State in late August. Candidates and political parties will most likely also be sending out forms. Ballots for the November General Election will not be mailed out until early October.
Businesses, churches, civic groups, and other organizations can also pick up forms in the Winneshiek County Auditor's Office in the Courthouse.
Election questions can be directed to the Auditor's Office at (563) 382-5085 or auditor@co.winneshiek.ia.us.
