On July 23rd, the Houston County Sheriff's Office received a report of a Physical Domestic Assault in progress that involved a handgun. The suspect was 39-year-old Thomas Monson of West Union, who is a convicted felon with a past history of violent and assaultive behaviors. Upon the arrival of the Deputies, Monson fled from the residence into a nearby cornfield and wooded area. After an extensive search, Monson was not located and his whereabouts were unknown.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office reports on Monday at 10:30 p.m., Monson was located in Winneshiek County and was taken into custody. Monson was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for violation of a no contact order, possession of drug paraphernalia and outstanding Minnesota Arrest Warrants. Chickasaw County and Howard County Sheriff Offices assisted in locating and apprehending Monson.
Monson will remain in the Winneshiek County Jail awaiting extradition to Minnesota.
