City of Decorah: Lack of detour sign at College Drive and Ridge Road is intentional

The city of Decorah Street Department has been getting questions about the Locust Road detour--and most of them involve College Drive.

In a newsletter sent out about the Locust Road project, city officials say, "We have received several questions regarding the detour for Locust Road, specifically regarding the placement of a detour sign at the intersection of Ridge Road and College Drive."

The questions involve the lack of a sign at this location, but city officials say the omission is intentional.

"The official detour for northbound traffic is (to take) College Drive to Highway 52. Ridge Road is meant to be a local detour only."

The city street department says Ridge Road is already seeing a significant increase in daily traffic and it wants to limit additional traffic through a residential neighborhood--including by not steering northbound College Drive traffic onto Ridge Road..
