Fans attending the State High School Baseball Tournament in Des Moines over the weekend noticed two new signs just to the right of the scoreboard in right field.
The signs were in memory of former Decorah High School staff member Mary Herman, who died in January.
From 2005 to 2019, Mary was the official scorer for each and every one of the 418 state baseball tournament games played at Principal Park. The signs put up in time for this year's state baseball tournament read "MH" and "418" and were in the Decorah Viking colors of red and blue.
A Twitter post by the IHSAA said, "The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Cubs honor her contributions to student-athletes from all over Iowa."
