Pheasant chicks cause a traffic accident

Pheasant chicks caused a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County on Thursday.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says 38-year-old James McCarron of Minneapolis was traveling west on Highway 9 in Frankville Township around 4:00 p.m. McCarron noticed a pheasant enter the roadway and began braking when a number of chicks also entered the roadway.
71-year-old Frederick Axmear of Decorah was following McCarron and attempted to avoid a collision but was unable to completely stop and rear ended McCarron.
No ambulance transport was needed. No tickets were issued. The accident did at least $12,000 in damages. (No word on the pheasant chicks)
