Alliant Energy has sent a letter to the Iowa Utilities Board with its view of the negotiations with the Decorah City Council about a franchise agreement for Decorah.
The letter, written on Monday, states the utility "has continued to negotiate with the Decorah City Council in good faith." The letter says Alliant "appreciates this approval by the Decorah City Council and the good faith negotiations that have occurred."
The letter also discusses the Locust Road project, which the Decorah City Council claimed in a letter to the IUB was being used by Alliant as leverage to get the City of Decorah to sign the franchise agreement. "If the franchise (agreement) is finalized, we will consider all investments in this ongoing project as covered by the new franchise agreement," says the letter to the IUB. Alliant says it is proactively working with the City of Decorah on the logistics of relocating Alliant electric lines so that it fits in with the schedule for the road project.
The Decorah City Council voted Thursday morning to send the IUB its own letter to respond to the Alliant letter sent on Monday.
