Motor vehicle accident traps 71-year-old woman inside her vehicle

On the morning of July 11th, 71-year-old Joan Manderfield of West Union was traveling north on Highway 52 when she struck a boat trailer being pulled by 70-year-old Wayne Walter of Decorah. Airbags were deployed and Manderfield was trapped inside her vehicle. Manderfield was extricated from the vehicle by the Calmar Fire Department and transported by ambulance.

Total property damage amounted to $12,000.
