The new Hy-Vee Dollar Fresh store in Waukon, located in the old Shopko building at 819 11th Avenue S.W., will open its doors to the public at 7:00 a.m. Friday for its official grand opening.
The 29,000-square-foot store will offer a full selection of grocery items, a bakery section, a dollar section, a Wall of Value, ready-to-eat meal offerings, Aisles Online grocery services, DSW shoe department, Joe Fresh apparel; 525 specialty items and 195 produce items (including 15 organic offerings). The store will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. daily, and will carry approximately 9,500 items.
"Dollar" refers to having low prices in the store. The company has looked for ways of cutting its operating costs, such as having 100 percent self-checkout areas, and passing the savings along to customers. Like a dollar store, the Dollar Fresh also carries shoes (from DSW) and clothing.
"Fresh" refers to a variety of freshly-made products the store is selling--fresh produce, fresh meat, freshly-baked bread and other baked goods, and freshly prepared food.
