Kwik Star is opening its second Decorah store. Here's a look inside.

Kwik Trip/Kwik Star operates more than 500 convenience stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.  That number will grow by one on Thursday as the La Crosse-based company opens its second Decorah store.

The newest Kwik Star is located on Montgomery Street, replacing a previous convenience store and an auto repair shop.  Kwik Star spokesperson Sam Servais says the newest Decorah store is very similar to the Kwik Star opened in Postville earlier this year.

The new Decorah store will have a large grab-and-go meal area, featuring a number of food options, including chicken.  Servais says it's part of a new program by Kwik Trip/Kwik Star which will have chicken for sale in all of its stores by September or October.

The store also has coffee and other beverages, groceries and fresh meat, fruit and vegetables.

Just under 50 people will be working at the new Kwik Star.  In all, 15,000 people work for Kwik Trip/Kwik Star, including those who work at the company's bakery, dairy and distribution centers.
