Signs near Malanaphy Springs
Signs have now gone up near Malanaphy Springs and near Chimney Rock, warning motorists their vehicles will be towed away if they are parked illegally.
This has been a popular summer for canoeing or kayaking on the Upper Iowa River, but it has brought with it complaints about cars and trucks blocking driveways and causing congestion along several county roads.
Winneshiek County Supervisors have responded by approving an ordinance which specifically sets up tow away zones near the two canoe landings. A third landing which has been the subject of complaints--Daley Bridge on Canoe Creek Road--will be the topic of a public hearing next Monday, July 13th.
