The Iowa Department of Human Services has awarded a $3,000 grant to Wellington Place in Decorah.

The money comes from funds appropriated to pay for ways to help nursing homes connect their residents with loved ones during the COVID-19 epidemic.  The epidemic has resulted in nursing homes restricting visitors to protect nursing home residents.  Some nursing homes have purchased iPads, tablets and webcams as a way to help residents communicate with family members.

The Department of Human Services grants will pay for up to $3,000 worth of new equipment.  Wellington Place's grant was for the maximum amount.  The money will be used to allow Wellington Place to purchase additional equipment to improve the ability of residents, tenants and families to communicate with one another.
