Local dairy production awards are announced

The Winneshiek County DHI has announced the winners of local dairy producer excellence in milk production and quality awards.

Winners are typically announced at the Winneshiek County Dairy Banquet, which was cancelled this spring due to COVID-19.

The following herds were recognized in the Top 10 of Top 10 percent above breed average based on combined fat and protein with a minimum of ten tests to qualify listed in that order:

•   Dennis & Barb Mashek--Brown Swiss, 2,257 lbs. CFP
•   Einck Dairy--Holstein, 2,344 lbs. CFP
•   Brian & Dave Bigler--Holstein, 2,194 lbs. CFP
•   Wemark Dairy--Holstein, 2,084 lbs. CFP
•   Tom & Jeni Melcher--Crossbred, 1,890 lbs. CFP
