The Decorah Historic Preservation Commission has presented awards to Stan Fullerton for his rehabilitation of the former JCPenney building at 101 W. Water Street in downtown Decorah and to David Wadsworth for the full-scale rehabilitation of a historic home at 409 East Main Street.

Fullerton was praised for his complete rehabilitation of the former JC Penney building.  "This project is a beautiful example of what careful rehabilitation can achieve," said Historic Preservation Commission member Steve Kelsay.  Historic Preservation Commission chair Mark Mugglie noted the importance of recovering the 1925 facade of the building.

Wadsworth was praised by Muggli for "(making) it possible for this home to serve people into the next century."  Wadsworth refurbished many historic features of the home, but also replaced the mechanical systems and created a modern kitchen and new baths in keeping with the structure of the home.  A full history of the rehab is available at https://wadsworthconstruction.com/historic-restoration/
