Attic fire at house on East Broadway does some damage

Decorah volunteer firefighters responded to a house fire at 208 East Broadway Street early Thrsday morning.

The occupants of the upstairs apartment reported the fire at 12:18 a.m.  On arrival of the firefighters, flames were visible coming through the roof with no fire in the apartment living space. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in the attic.  They were on the scene for about 2 ½ hours. 

The apartment sustained smoke and water damage.  No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Decorah Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Calmar Fire Department, Decorah Police Department, Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department, Winneshiek Dispatch, Black Hills Energy, Alliant Energy and Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance.
