With decisions having been made involving Nordic Fest and the Winneshiek County Fair this summer, the next remaining major decision in Decorah will be whether or not to open the Decorah Swimming Pool.
Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird says he and Park-Rec Director Andy Nimrod have continued to have conversations about the options involving the pool. Nimrod says the Park Board will be guided in its decision by a statement which has been posted on the swimming pool's website:
"Decorah Park-Rec. staff are diligently working towards having a 2020 season at our pool, and will follow the recommendations of the Governor, Decorah City Council, the Decorah Park-Rec Board, the CDC, the Iowa Department of Public Health, and Winneshiek County Public Health when making decisions. At this time, we are looking at June 17th as the earliest possible opening date for the Decorah Pool. More information will be made available regarding specific restrictions, pool passes, and swim lessons once the opening date is set. Thank you for your patience."
