The Answer Person says: "You might have noticed we've been writing a lot of stories lately about the new bridge on Cattle Creek Road—the one which crashed into the Upper Iowa River in 2017.
At that time, there was a lot of discussion about whether the correct spelling of the name of the bridge was 'Dahly' or 'Daley.' There was a lot of discussion about this topic—and decorahnews.com settled on using the name 'Dahly.'
Now, however, Cedar Falls resident Tim Daley has e-mailed us to tell us about Gene and Deloris Daley, his aunt and uncle who lived on the farm. Tim says the property "has been farmed for many generations by Daley's (and was) the birthplace of my father, aunt, and uncles."
This is proof to us that we've been wrong to call the bridge 'Dahly's Bridge' and will from now forward will call it 'Daley's Bridge.' Thanks for settling this question, Tim!"
