Iowa Governor Kim Reynold's daily press conference on Tuesday highlighted the results of ending restrictions on who can be tested for COVID-19.
As a result of opening up testing to everyone, 28,000 Iowans were tested last week, and positive test result rates have trended downward. In late April, the positive rate for COVID-19 cases was at 30 percent of all tests. Today, the rate is at 13.1 percent and Sunday the rate was at just 6.3 percent.
The statewide recovery rate is currently 53 percent with 9,403 recovered cases. Also, 42 percent of long-term care workers who had tested positive for the virus have recovered.
