Decorah Farmers Market's plan for opening day

Posted: Wed, May 20, 2020 1:35 PM

Wednesday, June 3rd, will mark the beginning of the season for the Decorah Farmers Market.  The market's board members have been working on strategies to make the much-loved market as safe as possible for both vendors and customers.

Vendors will be required to wear a mask; adhere to physical distancing regulations; and have sanitizer or hand washing available at their station.  Additionally, vendors can choose to not serve customers who are not wearing a mask.  Finally, only food and farm product vendors will be at the market, per the governor's orders.

Customers are asked to wear a mask; have only one member per household at the market; and adhere to physical distancing regulations.  Customers will not be allowed to bring pets into the market or eat food on market premises.  Customers are not required to wear a mask, but as stated above, vendors can choose whether or not to serve unmasked visitors. Sanitizer, which was donated by Viking State Bank, will be provided at both entrances of the market, and customers are encouraged to use it.

While there are many changes to the way the market will run, the days and times will remain the same.  Starting June 3rd, the market will be open Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Board Vice President Amy Knox reminds vendors and customers, "Everything we have in place now is subject to change or adjustments depending on how things go."
