Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds relaxes most remaining COVID-19 shutdowns

Most of the remaining categories of businesses shut down in Iowa by the COVID-19 epidemic will now be able to resume operations--but under the usual COVID-19 restrictions.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on Wednesday cancelled her orders shutting down movie theaters, zoos and similar entertainment attractions.  She announced bars and taverns would be able to reopen on May 28th--but at 50 percent capacity and social distancing measures in place.  Reynolds also gave the go-ahead to allowing high school baseball and softball games to be played after June 1st.

The governor said Iowans will be "moving forward with our lives," although still taking precautions to avoid getting COVID-19.  She told her morning news conference that the fact that over 60,000 tests for COVID-19 have been done in May allows for the previous restrictions to be relaxed.
