Serology Testing Results Available on State Website

Serology testing looks for antibodies that battle Covid-19.

The State of Iowa Medical Director Dr. Caitlin Petadi says "We have more to learn" about how the antibodies work and how long they last. She and other health officials are hoping this information will help in the fight against Covid-19.

Dr. Pedati spoke at Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds' Press Conference on Tuesday where they announced that the state's Corona Virus website is now carrying information about serology testing results.

Antibodies are proteins in the blood stream formed as a result of coming into contact with a specific illness. These proteins are then designed specifically to fight that illness.

Plasma taken from Covid-19 survivors could be used to help current Covid-19 patients survive by providing them with antibodies.
