It's taken many months of work, but new regulations of short-term housing rental properties in Decorah have now been approved by the Decorah City Council. The so-called "AirBnB regulations" cover all short-term housing rentals in the community, placing them under the same regulations as have existed for long-term housing rentals. That means the short-term rentals will have to be inspected and licensed by the city.
The new ordinance doesn't go into effect until July 1st, and the actual licensing doesn't start until next April, but the new regulations have earned the approvals they need to take effect.
