New project recognizes essential workers in Decorah

The Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation and ArtHaus have partnered to launch a project to recognize essential workers in the Decorah area.

The "Pinwheel Project" will place pinwheels at six locations in Decorah. The purpose is to show workers at those locations that the community supports them.

Pinwheels may be purchased at various stores in Decorah, or they can be made at home. The only requirement is they must be made from weatherproof materials and not made of paper. Pinwheels can be any size.

The list of participating sites are:

Winneshiek Medical Center: Deliver at main registration door to outside check-in booth during normal clinic hours M-F.

Aase Haugen Home: Pinwheels may be placed in the grass near the staff parking lot on the corner of Ohio and Valley.

Eastern Star Home: Please place pinwheels in a tote in the entrance of Arlin Falck Assisted Living. Visiting restrictions are still in place.

Wellington Place: Deliver during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at main entrance by flagpole. Please use door buzzer and staff will meet you.

Decorah City Hall/Law Enforcement Center/Decorah Police Department/ Decorah Fire Department/ Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Management: Pinwheels can be dropped off at Law Enforcement Center or at City Hall's main office and they will be placed around buildings.

Fareway: Please drop off with staff at Decorah Store.
