The City of Decorah's Board of Adjustment has referred a proposed development on St. Lawrence Street back to the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Quandahl Investment Properties had proposed an 8-unit apartment at 105 St. Lawrence Street and asked for a variance on parking lot requirements.  At Wednesday night's Board of Adjustment meeting, a petition was presented with signatures from 14 neighboring property owners who oppose the development.

But the main sticking point of Board of Adjustment members was the proposed parking lot, not so much the development itself.  Representatives from Quandahl Investment Properties said they were willing to make the changes proposed by city officials.  But because those changes would make the development different from the one approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission initially, the entire application has been sent back to the P & Z Commission to review on Monday night.
