Decorah City Council will hold another meeting Monday evening about Alliant Energy

Decorah City Council members Wednesday afternoon met in closed session for more than two hours, talking with Des Moines attorney Sheila Tipton about a possible complaint letter about Alliant Energy. Several members of the city council are complaining that Alliant is using a proposed franchise agreement as a way to keep Decorah citizens from voting about a municipal electric utility over the next five years.
But at the end of the meeting, in open session, city council members took no action on setting a date for a public hearing on the utility franchise agreement, nor on the complaint letter to the Iowa Utilities Board.
Instead, City Administrator Chad Bird has been instructed to ask several more questions of Alliant Energy officials and to return with the answers soon.
City council members said they would like to meet again at 5:00 p.m. Monday.
