The Decorah City Council has awarded the Locust Road Improvement Project to Skyline Construction of Decorah.
Skyline submitted a bid of $5,473,404.41 on the project. The City of Decorah has received a $1 million federal grant to help pay for the project, which means it would cost the city $4,473,404.
City council members voted unanimously to award the project to Skyline after holding a public hearing on the project Monday evening. Former Decorah City Council member Jody Niess urged the city council to accept the low bid, saying, "The longer you wait, the more costly it will become."
