The Decorah High School Drama Department's November 2019 performance of "Tuck Everlasting" has just been given numerous Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards.  The performance was named "Outstanding Musical Production," "Outstanding Ensemble" and "Outstanding Student Orchestra."

A number of Decorah High School students who took part in the performance won individual awards.  Tyler Irwin as "Hugo" and Kaj Spencer as "Man in the Yellow Suit" were given Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role.  Ally Bouska as "Winnie Foster," Finn Deen-Lester as "Angus Tuck," Leila Johnson as "Mae Tuck," Nolan Jostand as "Miles Tuck" and Dylan Muhlbauer as "Jesse Tuck" all were recognized for Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role.  Ada Lovelace was recognized for Outstanding Performance as a Featured Dancer.  Four cast members-–Ally Bouska, Leila Johnson, Nolan Jostand and Dylan Muhlbauer-–were selected as "Triple-Threat Award" winners, recognizing their singing, acting and dance contributions.

Due to COVID-19, Des Moines Performing Arts earlier announced that the 2020 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase scheduled for June 1st at the Des Moines Civic Center has been cancelled.  Said "Tuck Everlasting" director Jason Rausch, "While we're disappointed that the awards ceremony and related activities are cancelled, we're grateful that we had the opportunity to present such a special production. It is one we will always remember."
