Joe e-mails The Answer Person: "I noticed this past Saturday and Sunday that the track at the fairgrounds was being groomed non-stop. For 12 years I have lived across from the track and have noticed that whenever they groom the track, that they race the next Saturday. Will the governor's new proclamation relaxing some of the restrictions placed on Iowa permit them to race as early as this Saturday?"
The Answer Person says: "Joe, we have some good news for you—and some bad news. The Governor's proclamation Monday read in part, 'A speedway or race track...may reopen its operations, provided that it does not permit any spectators to attend its events in person.'
Upper Iowa Speedway's Facebook page says the racetrack 'is planning on having practice sessions May 2nd and May 3rd, depending on participation. However, participation will be limited to two people per race car, three race cars per session and three sessions per day.'
So if you're asking whether you'll be able to sit in the grandstands and watch regular races this weekend, the answer is 'no.'"
