The trial of Decorah resident Jacob Pambin in Story County Circuit court on two charges of vehicular homicide has been delayed until July as the result of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Pambin faces the vehicular homicide charges in connection with the death last August of passenger, Trenton Litke. The Iowa State Patrol, which responded to the August 4th accident in Story County near Zearing, say their investigation found Pambin had a blood alcohol level of 0.159 at the time of the crash--nearly twice the legal limit in Iowa. Investigators say Pambin deliberately began fishtailing in his vehicle, but because of his intoxication he could not keep his vehicle under control and it crashed into a metal culvert and overturned, killing Litke at the scene.
Pambin is now scheduled to have a pretrial conference July 20th at the courthouse in Nevada, with a jury trial scheduled to begin July 28th.
