The highest point in Winneshiek County
(Last Thursday, The Answer Person answered the question, 'What is the highest point in Winneshiek County?' (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2020/04/25088.html). We then received e-mails from other decorahnews.com readers about the answer that Prairie Spring Road at the Minnesota border is the highest point in Winneshiek County)
"The Answer Person has been to the highest point in Winneshiek County and has come away DEEPLY disappointed! It's not that we don't believe Prairie Spring Road is the highest point in Winneshiek County, it's just that the location is pretty, well, unexciting.
We received e-mails from readers who suggested other locations in Winneshiek County as being the highest point. While The Answer Person believes Prairie Spring Road is the actual highest point, maybe the time has come to nominate another location as the "unofficial highest point" in the county.
Because The Answer Person doesn't believe in stretching the truth toooo far, any nomination must be a location north of County Road A14, just south of the Minnesota border. But certainly there has to be a much more scenic location than the view from Prairie Spring Road.
Think of it, we could turn this into a tourist destination and maybe even charge people an unreasonable fee to see it--like the Four Corners of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah!
Send us a photo with your nomination because we need to make sure the view is scenic. Then, as the saying goes, 'The decision of the judges is final.'"
