COVID-19 case confirmed of Barthell Eastern Star employee

An employee of Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah has been confirmed as having the COVID-19 virus.

The staff member is in quarantine in a hotel. Eastern Star CEO Laurie Kreul said, "We have notified Winneshiek County and the Iowa Department of Public Health as required and are following facility procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Iowa D.P.H."

The nursing home is taking the recommended steps to contain the spread of the coronavirus.  Says Kreul, "We want to make residents and tenants and their families, our dedicated staff and our community aware of this situation and reassure everyone that we are on top of the situation."
