Winneshiek Medical Center workers take steps to save on the mask supply

Winneshiek Medical Center doctors and nurses have started wearing a powered, air-purifying respirator ("PAPR") as a way to save on WMC's mask supply.

PAPRs are a type of personal protective equipment used to safeguard workers against contaminated air.  Most importantly, they are cleanable—so they can be reused.

WMC staffers have one request, however: "Please do not be alarmed if you see a staff member wearing a PAPR when providing your care--he or she is wearing it only to save on masks."
