Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds at her Thursday morning news conference hinted that she will make an announcement Friday about COVID-19 restrictions. The current restrictions are in force through next Thursday, April 30th.
Reynolds told the news conference, "Iowans are ready to take the next step...to get back to work." She says she would like to use data to loosen restrictions "sooner, rather than later," to "get Iowans back to work."
The governor presented statistics which show 51 percent of all diagnosed COVID-19 cases are in five counties in Iowa. She also said of the more than 29,000 Iowans who have been tested, 3,942 have had positive results--or 13 percent, which she said was a lower percentage than the national average of 18 percent.
Reynolds also said the new testing which is beginning in Iowa will enable the state to target areas of concern quickly.
