Several readers have asked decorahnews.com for suggestions on where they could donate part of their COVID-19 relief check.
The problem with that question is that there are so many deserving organizations that we'd hate to single out one or two.
Instead, we'd recommend visiting the First Lutheran Church website at https://www.firstlutherandecorah.org/serve/ to see information about several worthwhile non-profit projects, including the Decorah Community Food Pantry, Decorah Free Clinic, Kids Lunch Club and Decorah Community Meal.
The Winneshiek County Mutual Aid Network, operated through Decorah Now (www.decorahnow.com) connects area residents to the resources they need, including each other.
NEICAC has a crisis fund to help people cover bills, including rent, pharmacy, dental, water/sewer, electricity and gas bills.
If you'd like to help several non-profits, perhaps a good way would be to donate money to Winneshiek County Community Foundation, which has set up a fund specifically to help nonprofits during the COVID-19 crisis, including fire departments, ambulance services, food pantries, meals on wheels and others. Visit their website at https://www.cfneia.org/giving/give-today?fund=800 to make a donation.
Any of these organizations—and many others we haven't mentioned—are good recipients of a donation.
