An employee of Lynch BBQ Company in Decorah has had a positive test for COVID-19.
A news release from the company says, "Upon the employee showing symptoms, they were isolated and tested, and returned home to quarantine. Lynch BBQ suspended operations on Monday, with furloughed employees to be compensated."
The company says the facility in Freeport has undergone a thorough cleaning and disinfecting process. The facility has an Ozone Gas System, which assists in the elimination of bacteria, viruses and microorganisms as a part of an enhanced sanitation program. The facility has not set a date to re-open at this time.
Said General Manager Kevin Bouska, "We have worked with our employees to make sure they stay home when sick, encouraging them to follow all CDC recommendations to protect themselves; we want to make sure they are safe." In addition, Lynch BBQ has provided employees with bottled hand sanitizer over the last several weeks for use at home to ensure the well-being of their families.
Lynch BBQ worked with the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Winneshiek County Department of Public Health to obtain testing for all Decorah-based employees at the facility.
