South Winn Superintendent Kris Einck says two school district employees have reported to the school district that they have COVID-19.
Einck then informed South Winneshiek School Board members about the situation at their April 13th meeting. Einck tells decorahnews.com that he told school board members about the two staffers as "a reminder that the District's communities need to remain vigilant in taking proper precautions."
The Iowa Department of Public Health has reported seven coronavirus cases in Winneshiek County. However, the IDPH bases its statistics on the home county of a coronavirus patient. It's not known if the two South Winneshiek employees live in Winneshiek County. The IDPH also only reports statistics on people who have been tested through the State Lab or similar labs and does not include people who show the symptoms of COVID-19, but do not get tested.
The two South Winn staff members are recovering, according to Einck. He says the school district has no further comment regarding the matter at this time.
