The Iowa Department of Transportation has opened bids on the Locust Road Improvement Project--and Skyline Construction is the apparent low bidder.
Bids were opened at 10:00 Tuesday morning. Skyline Construction submitted a bid of $5,473,404.41, while Reilly Construction submitted a bid of $5,884,874.60.
The Decorah City Council has scheduled a public hearing on May 4th to review the bids on Locust Road and to vote to award the project to the low bidder. The project has an additional option of extending the work to Highland Drive, which will be discussed May 4th.
Estimates presented to the city council's Streets Committee in December placed the cost of the reconstruction of Locust Road from College Drive to Pinecrest at $3.3 million, while extending the project to Highland Drive was estimated to bring the total cost to $4.3 million.
