Local efforts continue to make protective masks which can be worn to decrease the chances of passing the coronavirus.
One of the organizers of the effort, Ann Mansfield of Decorah, says a group of about three dozen volunteers has made around 2,500 masks in the last three weeks. Mansfield says the group has also started a project to make 200 protective gowns which can be used by health care workers.
So far, $4,500 in contributions has been raised to help pay for the costs of fabric used by the group. That's in addition to direct donations of fabric.
