Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon is announcing that donations of homemade masks are now being accepted in four locations in Allamakee County as the number of coronavirus cases in the county has reached 40.
Masks can be dropped off at the Waukon Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development Office in the tote at the front door between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. weekdays; at Lansing City Office in the tote at the front door between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays; Postville City Office in front of the police station door anytime; and at the Monona Chamber of Commerce in the drop off slot in the front door anytime.
These masks will then be taken to some grocery stores to hand out to those at risk, especially elderly customers. Once someone in this high risk category receives a mask, they should keep laundering it and wear it anytime they have to enter public places.
