Like many other businesses, livestock sales barns have been affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Decorah Sales Commission was closed last week to give processors a chance to catch up on their work. Decorah Sales Commission representative Joe Nelson says Lanesboro Sales Commission will reopen on Wednesday, with Decorah Sales Commission reopening Monday, April 20th.
Nelson says he anticipates stronger demand for slaughter cows and Holstein steers and heifers. There are still processors experiencing workforce issues due to the Covid-19 virus. Says Nelson, "This is a very fluid and rapidly changing environment and as a result we highly recommend that customers wishing to consign beef steers and heifers contact one of our representatives or myself directly about their livestock."
