The Iowa Department of Public Health says a fifth Winneshiek County resident has been positively identified as having COVID-19.

The IDPH says the patient is a middle-aged adult between the ages of 41 to 60 years old.

The Iowa Department of Public Health says there now have been 1,270 positive cases of coronavirus in Iowa.  An additional 882 negative tests were reported Thursday, bringing the total to 13,703 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

At a morning news conference Thursday, IDPH Deputy Director Sarah Reisetter said her agency is starting to see evidence that the curve of cases is beginning to flatten.  She urged the public "to continue to do the same things" that led to the more encouraging statistics.
