(The following is a Letter to the Editor from C. Dennis Ohlert of Decorah):
Recently decorahnews.com received letters from two readers advocating a total lock-down.
First, let me emphasize that I am not a registered Republican. Nor was I a fan of Governor Reynolds. However, I have come to respect the way she's handling the pandemic in Iowa. Her press briefings
are informative and even-handed.
Are the two letter-writers privy to some information that the Governor and the rest of us do not have, that they seem to know what's best? The vast majority of us are staying at home except for short trips
for supplies and medications. How would a lock-down improve this? Perhaps we should be kept in our homes at gunpoint?
Or have the letter-writers hoarded enough supplies that they can stay in for the foreseeable future and the rest of us be damned?"
