Sewer and water rates will go up in Decorah July 1st

The Decorah City Council has approved increases in the water rates and sewer rates charged to property owners.

Under the legislation, both water rates and sewer rates would go up two percent July 1st.  City council members approved the second reading of both ordinances Monday night, then voted to waive the third reading and approve the increases.

City officials say the sewer and water funds do not have high enough reserves, so they've been asking for yearly rate increases.
