At a Thursday afternoon news conference in Des Moines, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds extended her order closing school districts in Iowa through the end of April.
Reynolds said the extension was "a very difficult decision," but was best to protect safety and flatten the curve of the increase of coronavirus cases in Iowa. She stressed that her order was not that school districts would remain closed for the rest of this school year.
School districts such as the Decorah Community School District have been studying a range of options available to them. Governor Reynolds on Thursday said such decisions "can and should be made locally."
Decorah School District teachers and administrators have been meeting in order to disucss which option they would decide to take.
