Decorah Parks and Recreation is challenging the community to "Explore Decorah" in April

Posted: Tue, Mar 31, 2020 1:14 PM

The Decorah Parks and Recreation Department is creating a contest in April to encourage individuals and families to enjoy some of Decorah's trails.  "Explore Decorah" will include a drawing to win a free individual or family season pool pass for the summer.

There are eight trails which are part of the contest: Decorah Community Prairie, River Trail, Twin Springs Trail, Dunning's Spring, Gateway Prairie, Palisades Park, Carlson Park and Van Peenen Park (in the pines).

To compete, first take a look at the list of trails with coordinating numbers. Participants are asked to walk a trail, searching for a yellow sheet of paper with the Decorah Park-Rec logo and a word. Next, write the word in the blank below that corresponds to the designated number of the trail just explored.  Completing all the trails and finding all the words will form a sentence that can then be sent in to the Park and Rec Office (email or on paper), along with a picture of participants on a trail and names. Entries must be received by April 30th.

Participants should obey social distancing guidelines.  The contest may be terminated if policies about park and trail usage change due to COVID-19.
