Ask The Answer Person: Do big box stores have to close their sections selling shoes, jewelry and closing?

Judy e-mails: "If Decorah's downtown stores that sell 'non-essential' items such as shoes, jewelry and clothing have to close because of coronavirus concerns, are those same sections (shoes, jewelry and clothing) of big box stores also having to close?"

The Answer Person says: "Big box stores were not included in last Thursday's proclamation by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds which expanded the categories of businesses which must close their doors to the public. Since such stores have their own category, they are not classified as a shoe store or a jewelry store and thus can continue to offer such products to their customers."
