Winneshiek County Community Foundation is awarding $133,887 in grants to 32 projects or organizations serving Winneshiek County.
Arts and Culture:--$5,000 to ArtHaus for safety and accessibility infrastructure at ArtHaus's new permanent home
--$5,000 to New Minowa Players for replacement of a stage
--$5,000 to Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum for interpretive signage for Vesterheim's historic buildings
--$3,385 to Winneshiek County 4-H Foundation for window replacements at the Pine Bluff 4H Camp.
Community Betterment:--$3,000 to the Calmar Senior Club for Senior Center rejuvenation
--$5,000 to the City of Calmar for a street lighting project
--$5,000 to the City of Ossian for pavilion site development at Carey's Park
--$2,031 to the City of Spillville Library for computer replacement and update
Environment:--$3,500 to the Winneshiek County Conservation Board for a trail safety campaign
Health:--$2,725 to Winneshiek County Public Health for the Happy Feet Clinic reboot
--$6,300 to the Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation for an obstetrics monitoring system
Historic Preservation:--$5,000 to the Friends of Fort Atkinson for Phase 1 of restoring historic Fort Atkinson, developing a comprehensive condition assessment report.
--$5,014 to the Porter House Museum for Phase 2 of a solar-powered climate control system.
--$3,000 to the Winneshiek County, Historic Preservation Commission for a Winneshiek County stone structure survey and publication
Human Service:--$4,500 to Barthell OES Home for activity room equipment
--$3,896 to the Fort Atkinson Fire Department for helmets and LED flashlights
--$1,000 to the Protivin Fire Department for fire hoods and gloves.
--$4,768 to the Decorah Community Food Pantry for a dual approach to providing better nutrition for families.
--$3,760 to the Decorah Quilts of Valor for 2020 Veterans Day presentations.
--$5,529 to the Decorah Volunteer Fire Department Association EMS rescuer protection
--$5,100 to the Decorah Volunteer Fire Dept Association for a rescue knowledge on the go system

--$4,000 to the Ridgeway Rural Fire Department for roadside safety equipment.
--$3,385 to the Riverview Center for the Winneshiek County Sexual Assault Crisis Response Toolkit.
--$5,000 to the Spectrum Network towards the purchase of a handicapped accessible van.
--$1,705 to Thunder Rode for equine-assisted activity workshops for Veterans and their families.
--$4,952 to the Toys Go 'Round Toy Lending Library for a 2020 refresh.
--$5,000 to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office and Decorah Police Department for body cameras
--$5,000 to Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity to provide solar energy for a Habitat for Humanity home.
The grant decisions were determined prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. New rules will now allow nonprofits receiving grants to shift funding to general operating support. Representatives of the Winneshiek County Community Foundation will discuss the issue with nonprofits on a one-on-one basis.
