Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds at her Thursday afternoon news conference announced she is expanding the list of types of businesses she's ordering to close because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Several parts of her announcement will affect Decorah businesses:
--She ordered the closure of clothing and shoe stores; jewelry stores; bookstores; furniture stores; florists; home furnishing stores; luggage stores; and cosmetic, perfume and beauty supply stores. (Note: Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kristina Wiltgen says, "I received notice this morning that ALL businesses mandated to close yesterday can still offer curbside/delivery/or other online options for customers. The physical facility must remain closed to the public.")
--The closures of restaurants and bars has been extended an additional week to April 7th.
--All elective dental procedures including hygienic, orthodontic or cosmetic procedures are suspended. all non-essential and elective surgeries that can be delayed without "undue risk to patients" are suspended.
