A technology company has crunched the numbers and says Winneshiek County is the highest in Iowa in terms of negative change of cell phone mobility since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

Unacast says the CDC has stated that social distancing is currently the most effective way to slow the spread of COVID-19. So it used the change in distance traveled from pre-COVID-19 days to determine a "Social Distancing" score for each county in the country, including all 99 counties in Iowa.

As of 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, the firm reports Winneshiek County residents decreased by 55 percent their average distance traveled, which puts the county at #1 on the list.  Go ahead and take a victory lap but only around your house. Let's keep our ranking and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The company has statistics for every state in the country and every county in Iowa.
Data is continuously rolling in to the company, and the numbers are changing throughout the day. The most updated statistics can be found here.
