Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds suspends fines on late property tax payments until April 17th

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on Friday issued new announcements relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the announcements was one that she was lifting fines on the late payment of property taxes until April 17th. Reynolds initially announced she was suspending the collection of property taxes, but her office later clarified the statement to say that property taxes are still due by March 31st, but property owners who miss that deadline will not be assessed a late payment penalty until Friday, April 17th.
Winneshiek County Treasurer Brenda Kreitzer says many transactions through her office can be done online with a credit card or by phone or by mail.
