Luther College Vice President for Finance and Administration Eric Runestad has accepted a new position as vice president and treasurer at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Runestad will leave his job at Luther in mid-June.
Said Runestad, "I have enjoyed my work on Luther's behalf in the community, with Decorah Jobs, Winneshiek County Development, the City of Decorah, and the Decorah Community Schools. I continue to be impressed by Decorah, the strength of its downtown, the vibrancy of this community, and the quality of the people who live and work here. I look forward to staying connected to this place."
The process to begin the search for Runestad's replacement will begin this summer.
Luther has made an interim appointment to fill Runestad's position. Kenneth Westphal will begin his interim role on June 3rd. Westphal retired from his role as vice president for finance and treasurer of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, after a 28-year career there and later returned to Gustavus in an interim capacity in the same role during a search transition.
Westphal's wife, Kristianne Reinholtzen Westphal, is a 1979 Luther alumna.
